Calixto Robles from the heart

Mission artist, Calixto Robles, shares the love for his Oaxacan cultural heritage through his paintings, lithographs and silk screen prints using the colors and symbols of his native Mexico. Rich in iconographic symbolism of the past he confronts the present social issues aiming to create peace and harmony and community through the visual language of his art.

Shirley Gittelsohn Fields of Color

86-year-old painter Shirley Gittelsohn tells the story of her life and work. Inspired by the fields of color she sees in the majestic Pacific Northwest landscapes of her home, she has spent a lifetime creating abstract, impressionistic and expressionistic interpretations of landscapes and still lifes.  Despite the onset of macular degeneration, causing her to lose her sight, Shirley continues to paint with verve from the colors of the world around her.
