Jim Mizuki, a 94-year-old almond farmer, tells his remarkable story from the setting of his 40-acre orchard. What begins as a lesson in California almond farming unfolds into a story about life--a story of what it means to be a first-generation Japanese-American in the United States during the Second World War.  

This is the story of one man's determination to fulfill his life's dream in the face of potentially devastating events, and it is a story that reflects the experience of millions of American immigrants.

The composer and cellist Gideon Freudman will be scoring the film.

The film will be ideal as a teaching tool in high schools and universities. The film lends itself to extended lessons on politics and history, the salient subject of nationalism and immigration.
